Unfortunately, the flooding has canceled our trip to Sound to Sea. There is simply nothing that we can do with flood conditions along the roadways. Student safety is the main thing. I'm sorry we will miss this experience.
Changes have been made to the Punkin' Chunkin' contest rules! Check out the Punkin' Chunkin' Page for info!
The purpose of Science Club is to offer extracurricular science extension opportunities to Salem Students. Our goal is to foster interest in science for our SMS students by offering exciting experiences.
Science Club is open to all tracks and grade levels. We will offer on-site extension activities, field trips, and guest speakers.
Students do not need to 'join' science club, as all Salem students are already a part of the club! They may choose to participate in any number of club activities based on interest and availability.
Science Club is an EXTRACURRICULAR CLUB and most activities, while open to any student, are limited to the number of students we can include. Often these limitations are based on avaliable space and/or restrictions on numbers provided by our outside partners and locations. Because of these restrictions WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT EVERY STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN EVERY EVENT.
Often Science Club activities require a fee. This is determined by the material costs, guest presenter fees, transportation costs, and fees charged by locations. Students who are interested in participating in events but are unable to pay may request a PTA scholarship. These are awarded based on funds avaliable and may not cover 100% of the cost. When possible, payment can be divided into multiple smaller amounts and made over a period of time.
